“Can you recycle 3D prints?” is one of the most common question of people who are just starting out with 3D printing. In this video we’re chatting with Josh Taylor of Recreator3D about making 3D printer filament from plastic bottles and filament from 3d printer waste.
Josh has been trying for years to get me to take a recreator unit, and my answer is always the same. “I don’t drink that much soda.” I love the idea of making my own filament, but I think I’d probably go the Artme route with plastic shredding first. Unfortunately that’s a very DIY process right now, which is why I’m excited for the Creality M1/R1 combo.
The Recreator project is one that I’ve admired for a while. I like the idea of adding to my maker cart a way to keep me in filament should I ever be wandering the wasteland after the fall of civilization. But it’s one of those projects I just haven’t cut out the time to work on. But I’m always inspired by people like Josh who are making it happen.
