Hitem3D Ai Model Generation Tool

Watch on YouTube

Hitem3D is an AI model 3d generation tool that can turn pictures into 3D prints. But how evil is it on the scale of evil AI?

This video probably represents the last time I will use Hitem3D. It’s just not for me. I don’t need a less accurate, less efficient, and less useful  way to turn my ideas into 3D models. If I wanted my 3D models to not look like what I wanted I’d check myself into a hospital.

Signs an AI is Bad:

  1. Training Data Harvested Without Consent
  2. Inefficient use of Resources
  3. Results Aren’t Very Good
  4. Causes People to Question Real Human Effort
  5. Enables Bad Behavior

When coming up with my Evil AI scale, I originally considered R2D2 for the least evil. Then I remembered that R2 can be mean and I went with C3PO, who’s prissy, but always helpful. Then there’s Marvin the Paranoid Android. Sarcastic and depressed, but generally speaking does what’s demanded of him. Next is Twiki from Buck Rogers, who is so middle-of-the-road that he was basically only a talking pair of legs for another robot. The Hal-9000 from 2001 a space Odyssey is misunderstood. Yeah, he killed the entire crew, but it wasn’t intentional. He just had a really nasty bug in the system, and in a lot of ways represents, to me, the state of AI right now. (Honestly, why do people trust anything AI says?) And lastly there’s the T-900 from Terminator, which has no redeemable qualities unless it’s severely reprogrammed.

I an getting so many shorts out of this video.

If you’re wondering if Hitem3D was the folks who botched the contract before, the answer is “Yup”.  But they decided they still wanted to work with me, so a fool and their money, as they say. I’ve had a number of strange brand deals happenings. I was invited out to an event for the launch of a new 3D printer, and I took some time off work so I could attend. And then I was told the event was canceled, only to see Joel posting a video on the event. I’m still trying to unpack my feelings about all that. Like, why not just tell me “We got Joel. We don’t need you.” I wouldn’t even feel bad about that. Joel is great. Why can’t people just be straight forward? I know that’s my neurodivergence talking, but, like, the fact that I’m neurodivergent shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone.
