Slant3D Review

Watch on YouTube

One goal for PrintAQuest is to provide physical copies of the game for people who don’t have 3D printers. However, do to that I wanted to see if a print service like Slant3D could provide my customers with the parts at a good price. The results, however, did not impress.

I want you to know there was a lot of hand wringing about even making this video. I did not want to publicly shame Slant3D. Nor did I want to not tell people about this experience. But I started by sending Slant3D an email letting them know what I thought, that I wasn’t impressed, that they needed to be more careful about how they phrase things, and that I wanted to work with them. It’s been a week, and they haven’t responded. So, this story becomes content.

In the past, most kickstarters hit a sort of doldrums at this point. There’s usually a few days of 0 pledges. And it usually picks up again at the end. This time I’m trying a number of strategies to avoid that including running facebook ads. And so far it’s working. There’s hasn’t been a $0 pledged day yet. Let’s hope that keeps up until the end.

PS. A number of comments are trying to argue that this sort of quality is just what you can expect when you print at 0.2mm layers with a 0.4mm nozzle, as Slant3D says they do. So to prove the point, one of these was printed at 0.2mm layers with a 0.4mm nozzle on a Flashforge Adventurer 5M, the other is Slant3D’s prints.
