This is a video I should have made a long time ago, but aslo could not have made before this. It’s been a year since the first release of PrintAQuest. PrintAQuest needed a lot of growing, and grow it has. There’s been a spin-off game, SKIRMISH, which serves as a smaller and easier introduction to PrintAQuest. SKIRMISH experimented with a new way to build the maps that turned out wildly successful. So I had to go back and re-do all the previous maps.
And despite the fact that the new maps shouldn’t have been much bigger than the old ones, I discovered that all of the pieces necessary to build the 5 quests in the original release would no longer fit in a standard filament box, which I absolutely wanted to remain the case.
So I made a tough decision. I would cut back the first release to only include 3 quests, and move the cut content into their own expansion. That new expansion would take with it Katherine, the Alchemist’s Apprentice, the Gargoyles, and the Mimics, since they were not included in the first 3 quests. However, I also wanted to include some additional elements so it could be a proper expansion.
This new expansion I’m calling the Forts expansion, and it includes prison doors and stairs. To take advantage of these new elements I created a new quest that takes place over two stories and involves rescuing one of the heroes from prison.
In addition, there’s been a bunch of playtesting, making sure that the missions are challenging but beatable and, most importantly, fun. This has resulted in a number of small tweaks the rules, the quests, and some of the characters.
The result PrintAQuest is now easier to play than ever. And it’s a blast to play. And it’s to the point that I feel a How to Play video isn’t going to be out of date as soon as I start working on a new expansion.
Speaking of which…
The next campaign has been chosen. I asked my backers what they wanted to see in the next Kickstarter campaign, and by overwhelming majority, they chose another PrintAQuest expansion: Taverns. Unfortunately I have very little by way of concept art for it yet except this little footnote in the big PrintAQuest Map.

This update will include tavern building tiles including wooden floors and walls as well as tables and furnishings. There will be a focus on trading and character upgrading through the new friendly mob, the Gnomes.
I plan to include at least one new hero two new monsters, and 2 or 3 new quests to play with this new terrain. However, I have not yet decided what heroes or monster’s we’ll be adding yet, let me know what you’d like to see added for the Taverns update. Maybe I’ll finally do the Barbarian I planned in the first set but never got to.
If this sounds, good, though, I encourage you to download and play PrintAQuest today. And if you’d like to get PrintAQuest for free, take advantage of the special offer to PrintAQuest, Get A Quest.
