If you recognize the style of that thumbnail, then you are the target audience. Making this thumbnail to ape the style of Rodney Smith’s Watch it Played series kind of made me think I need to up my thumbnail game. There’s a lot of parts that go into a clear but repeatable thumbnail style like this. Most of my thumbnails are just background, reaction face, focus element, title.
It’s been a little while since my last upload and you may be wondering what I’ve been up to since that last upload. That video was super heavy and a lot of work. And while I considred a quick follow up video, I wanted to get this out first.
This video has been a ton of work because it’s more than just just this video. There’s also going to be a ton of auxiliary videos that are going to come out because of it: PrintAQuest:Skirmish Assembly, Painting 3D printed Minis with Speed Paints, and How I Make Cards. And that’s just on the video side. I could also talk about making that hat, which I’m pretty proud of.
I’m also redoing PrintAQuest Ruins and Swamps using the new building technique pioneered in Skirmish, which will probably come with it’s own ancillary content. Oh, and then there’s this:
29,000 words of the first adventures of the characters from PrintAQuest. Yes, I actually wrote a middle grade book. And I’m taking this seriously. I’ve had it looked over by people who do not necessarily like me, and I’m shopping for a publishing agent. I expect the rejection letters to start flowing in soon.
So, yeah, PrintAQuest has kind of taken over my life right now, and I kind of love it. But that means I have less time for videos so I can work on all these other things. But that also means if you get into PrintAQuest, you’re gonna be eating well.
I hope people get into PrintAQuest.
Am I going to revisit the afore mentioned heavy topic? I probably should because (1) that video is doing ridiculously well, and (2) the situation has gotten so much worse. But for a few videos anyways, it’s PrintAQuest all day.
