In this edition of 3D printed board games, we have 3 games that could be 3D printed, or could just be built out of PrintABlok, the 3D printed building block system.
- Cathedral Board Game v2 by Corey or just buy it on Amazon (aff)
- Santorini Portable Game by McGybeer or buy it on Amazon (aff)
- Tak – Garden Version by craeen or PrintABlok it
As mentioned in the video, PrintABlok has been extended with new procedural bloks. Now you can now easily make PrintABloks, half bloks, panels, boxes and bins in Blender. I would love to have something that does this with a plugin, making the making of new PrintABloks as easy as Shift-A->Mesh->PrintABlok. But after some exploration I decided to put that on hold for how. The person I was working on basically embedded the blend file in the plugin so every time you made a new block it loaded up the source file, built it, and imported it. Which was a clever solution. But it was a challenge to get it to take the settings I wanted and it was slow. I think there’s a faster way to do this, I just have to explore that in the future. And I have other things I’m exploring right now.
But I really hope people will check out the new PrintABlok source. I think it’s really going to provide some new functionality that I can’t want to explore. It’s gonna make Electrobloks easier to make, it’s gonna make storabloks better. It’s just goona be a good time all around.
I’ve edited the individual sections of this video down into shorts that I plan to link back to the original video. I gotta say I appreciate the economy of limitation. I do tend to ramble. Those will be coming out in the next couple of days.
