VRRD2020 Presentation

Watch Video

This morning I was going to present at the East Coast Rep Rap’s virtual festival. However, since I wasn’t actually at a festival, and was actually at home, my presentation became succeptable to all kids of problem. No, that wasn’t a typo. So I had to face the fact that I wouldn’t be able to make my commitment. So I decided to record a video. I fired up OBS so I could do a one shot with my good video and best mic. Only, the moment I hit record, my connection to the camera crashed. Okay, then. I’ll have to choose, good video or good audio. I know the right choice is good audio, but I went with the camera, since this is a show and tell, not a talk and tell. I made the video you see on Youtube. Only, I had my camera set for 4K, so this 3 minute video was 2 gigs, and it was not gonna upload in any reasonable amount of time.

Honestly, I feel like if I had managed to get on the stream I would have crashed it somehow.

But that’s alright. I’ll upload it here and you can enjoy it at your leisure.

This event, by the way, is bonkerdooles. So many presenters that each person gets 5 minutes, and they’re still going all day for 2 days. But then there’s also the one-foot-in-one-foot-out aspect of a virtual event. Being at the event, but also being at home. Being at the event in your pocket while you’re shopping or doing other things. If you ask me, nothing can compare to a live event because it locks you into being there in body and mind. If this had been an actual event, the little things that prevented me from getting there would have not been an issue because of proximity. But since that wasn’t the case, it became a blocking event for me. That’s just the way is.

What I’m saying is I can’t wait until people stop being germaphobes and we can all breath the same air again.
