Sainsmart Filament Review Video

It’s not often I make it this far through a roll of filament before I get to review it. The truth is, I had some rather lofty goals for this filament, and most of them fell through. They flopped pretty badly, in fact. The first was a scaled up variation of a marble maze that would work with full sized marbles, be solar powered, and be printed on my CR-10. I think the CR-10 was the weak link in this equation. I wasted most of the roll on these failed prints.

Then, I used it on a dual colored #lowpolydino volcano display, this time printed on the Raise N2+ at the makerspace. It took a couple of trys to figure out the ooze wall on something this big, but in the end the print was successful. However, I ruined it afterwards when tried to make it water right. Drilling into printed PETG can crack and that’s bad when you’r trying to hold water. I’ll be doing a reprint eventually, but there’s a printer that I want to do the reprint on that needs a little TLC. But that project will be forth coming, and a preview of it can be seen at the end of this week’s videos.

This video series as the third and final video in my first 3 part series. The Christmas Tree project, a little lesson, and a review. I’m thinking next week I’ll edit them together into a single full length episode, such as it might be, and see how it does in a longer format. If I do that, I’ll also try doing a live stream, just to make up for being cheap. But there’s a lot of behind the scenes stuff going on right now. Stuff that, once I get it all worked out will mean better videos on a more consistent basis, but for now means I’m struggling to meet my publishing deadlines. For instance, this blog post. ON MY BRAND NEW BLOG!

Bear with me. It’ll get better soon.
